Is a graphic designer based in Zurich and London. Currently studying at HSLU in Lucerne.
The brief of a two week CSM project asked to create a magazine (based on an existing magazine) without using any words or images.
I based my magazine on the Opak #09 War Issue. Reading the magazine I marked each usage of the word "war" with a cross and "peace" with a circle.
This left me with many sheets of tracing paper containing loads of crosses. I split the crosses into the corresponding articles. For every article I started with the colour red (100% magenta, 100% yellow).
I added 5% black for every cross of an article and then subtracted 5% black for every circle. This precedure created the colour scheme for the magazine and determined the shade of red for each article
The Wordless Magazine starts with a contents page followed by the articles presented by the amount of crosses in the appropriate colour. One can only see the traced crosses on the pages, but if they get sliced apart, graphics will reveal. These graphics are created individually for each article in order to illustrate the mood of the text.
